fund for birthday

I need to start a fund. The “Nancy Wants to Buy A New Phone But Needs More Money To Do It” fund. Perhaps I can get moolah as form of birthday present? Hmmm.

I’m totally in love with this phone and can’t stop thinking about it. It consumes my thoughts daily.

I promise that if I do get this phone before the end of this year, I will have a phonegasm.  Multiple, even.  Oh, how grand that would be.

What I am doing right now:
downloading soundtracks to Star Wars Episodes I, IV, V, and VI (not the others because I didn’t like them; and the first ep because I played a track in Junior Youth Symphony… nostalgia). I’m excited about listening to them!

geekette in training & my new obsession

Just 6 months after getting my new phone, I want another. But this one is one of the sexiest things I’ve ever seen!

The concept of the iPhone intrigued me, but I didn’t need another music player (I already have an 80GB). The concept of being able to surf the ‘net while on the run was very appealing, but I didn’t want to switch to AT&T and pay for a data plan (I think they start at around 60 bucks a month?). Plus, the iPhone is still in its infancy and pretty damn expensive; I’ll (maybe, if I even decide to get one) wait a few years for the price to go down and the kinks figured out (and perhaps more/enhanced features?).

What do I want now? A T-Mobile ‘Smartphone’ Wing.

tmobile wing

The important features:

  • quad-band (so I can travel)
  • GPRS/EDGE and Wi-Fi enabled (so I can access the internet where wireless is available [for free])
  • Phone!
  • Calendar and organizer, sync with email service
  • 2.0 megapixel camera (should be better than my actual digital one)
  • Built-in QWERTY keypad
  • Micro SD memory slot
  • Windows Mobile 6 (new!)
  • myFaves plan (continue)

An upgrade to this phone at this time in my contract would cost me $403.60 including tax and shipping. Ahhh…! I want this phone sooo bad right now!

I was talking to my aunt the other day and told her about this phone and told her it would cost me ~$300, which is something I couldn’t afford (let alone this new price of over $400). The thing I wasn’t sure about at the time was if I could still surf the net without having to pay for a data plan with T-Mobile (I want internet for free!). She told me to check that out and get back to her on what I found… meaning…? Sounded like she was thinking of buying it for me… for my birthday…? Oh god. That would be truly exciting… orgasmic, even.

If I do get the phone from her on my birthday, that would also mean I would be obligated (somewhat… I mean, she IS family and bought me the phone) to help her with moving (still in LA) to her new house over Christmas break. Meaning: I wouldn’t be able to go back home. I wouldn’t mind going to LA at all; I practically spent my childhood summers there and she’s one of my favorite aunts… but I really want to go home. Ack. Pros and cons.
