I’m so tired. So very, very tired. One week down, one more to go… then maybe or maybe not I’ll get to finally relax.
This weekend is the Stanford Qualifier (damn them and the mix-up) so we have to play to see if we get to seed in the actual Stanford Invite next weekend. We were supposed to just go to the Invite, but with the email mix-up, we now have to work for it AND play tournaments two weekends in a row.
This past week: two midterms–immunology and physics. Had practice 4x this week + lack of sleep = doing wonders to my body…
Hey, I signed up for this (no regrets) but if this is me tired NOW, with only 3 classes, practice, work, and studying for MCATs… then I’m going to literally DIE at the beginning of April. Why? Read the rest of this entry »

It’s war they’ll get

Issue date: 2/18/08 Section: Opinion from THE CAMPUS PRESS of Colorado Univ.
Since I transferred to CU last year, I’ve noticed some tension between the white students and the Asian students. There’s never any outright conflict, but I notice little things. Like, Asians always seem surprised whenever I talk to them. They stare at me for a few seconds as though I must have made some mistake, and once they realize I’m intentionally speaking to them, they aren’t always thrilled.On the other hand, white people are quick to ridicule Asians. They have no problem with making demeaning remarks about their looks, mannerisms, and accents-things they would never say about black people.
So when an Asian refuses to make eye contact with me or dismisses me with a one-word sentence, I just say to myself, “Max, Asians are not evil cyborgs. They’re human, just like you. And if you were a minority student in a sea of walnut-brained business majors and skiers, you’d be crabby, too.”But last week, I had an epiphany.After my friend and I finished working our abs at the Rec Center, we decided to head upstairs to tighten our buns on the StairMaster. As we walked down the hallway, a rubber ball bounced out of one of the racquetball courts and landed at the feet of an Asian in front of us. He picked up the ball and leaned over the railing of the court nearest to him.
“Hey, that’s not ours,” I heard a guy call up from the court. The Asian stared down at him for a moment, and then held the ball out to him. “That’s not ours,” the guy said again. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s hard to control these thoughts… of pleasure. Oooo the iPhone, how much I want thee. I’m trying to reason with myself as to WHY I should wait until my contract with T-mobile expires before I switch to an iPhone next spring. It’s hard to say no. It’ll only be a fee of $200 to cancel which is about 4-month’s worth of staying with what I have now. But the iPhone costs money… about $499 for a 2-yr commitment, not to mention the additional [at least] $60 per month plan. Sigh. It’s only 16GB now (which isn’t big enough for my music AND other things I want), so I’m waiting for it to be even bigger and better come next spring; by then maybe I can incorporate my large music library into my phone and won’t have to deal with the separation of the two. Oh buhjeezus, I need to focus on something else…
iPhone = orgasmic.
I want.
I’m such a sucker for technology.
