…in LA doing a bit of relaxing.
I’ve decided I’m not a quiet, small-townie as I thought I once was. I used to think big cities were too much for me; they had too many people and not enough open space. Now I’m re-thinking what I want to be surrounded by…
I’m in love with SF. The atmostphere is what I’ve always wanted but never quite had. Where I’m from, the local feel is great, but there isn’t much to do AND it wasn’t as easy to find people who shared my interests. But SF, that’s a different story. All the places I’ve been (the bars, cafe’s, restaurants, venues, etc), have felt incredibly comfortable. Like, amazingly so. The atmosphere always felt pleasant and I was never forced to something other than myself. And oh my, do I love the cafe’s. I grew up hanging out at cafe’s. People just seem so … chill… that it still shocks me every time! I love it. This is why I plan to move to SF for some months before I go down to LA.
Moving down to LA is pretty exciting for me too. It’s not as great as SF (as far as I know) because I prefer everything to be closer together and within walking distance, but LA has its perks too. I love that I can separate my cultural family heritage from what I normally do… which is quite important because it would be a bit strange to combine the two. I’ve also got friends in LA already, so it’s a plus to be down here. The main reason I’ll be down here by next December is that I need a place to hole-up while I study for MCATs and apply to med school and staying in NorCal would be too much money, whereas I’ll be staying with family when in LA. That equals cheap rent and food!
Basically, I’m just not ready to be back home yet. Yea, I have some incentives to go back, but for my own personal growth, I think it’s better I stay in the Lower 48. Not that i won’t ever go back nor does it mean I’ve totally changed my living preferences. I’m young and feel like big cities are the best for me for now. When I’m ready to settle down, it will be somewhere in Suburbia Land near large cites…for easy access.
